Business, Business, Business!!! I can’t run and I cannot hide. It is in my DNA. I think about business ideas and models ALL the time. I have concluded that this is how God speaks to me… even how He created me and I have said no to Him and His working far too many times, either out of fear or unworthiness. But that is not who I was designed to be. I WAS (emphasis added) designed to be a King on this earth and to rule, reign and have dominion over all things that He gives me. This is the purpose that I was set on this earth for, to show God’s love in the area of business.

So now I am flooded with ideas and plans. This is God speaking lovingly to me. Whispering in my ear. I must let it out and build with Him. What an honor. Not for vain glory. Not for trinkets and shiny beads (although programmers have been swayed by less), but to show Him in the earth and to bring His glory down here to us, His beloved.

Update From The ClubHouse

Today’s update from the clubhouse.

We told ghost stories (scary stories). So I tell the one about the Three Little Pigs & the Big Bad Wolf. So when it was Emily’s turn she told the exact same story with these very notable exceptions.

* The Big Bad Wolf becomes the Big Bad Bear
* The Three Little Pigs become the Four Little Dwarfs.
* The Fourth Dwarf makes a treehouse, the rest are the same… straw, sticks and bricks.
* The Big Bad Bear does huff and puff, but when he blows the house down, he eats the Little Dwarf.
* Everything else is pretty much the same.

I was playing with my 6 year old daughter yesterday before heading down to the basement to work. We have a standard game that we play called “ClubHouse”, where we get under the covers (the clubhouse) and tell stories and read “mail” and watch Sesame Street on TV and whatever else we think of.

When I did get in my office and started my day, God spoke to me and reminded me of why I choose to work from home….

Trying to Learn Something from God

I am a lucky guy in most respects. God has designed me for ideas and inventions. It makes me come alive to design something new. I have a real passion for it and feel Gods pleasure when I am doing what He created me to do. I have spent most of my life, even as a child, chasing ideas, learning things that I am passionate about and have been able to make a living at it too.

But along with the ideas and the building, I have a deep desire to own my own business. I always have. It is as deep seated in me as developing ideas and inventing are. The problem is in walking all this out with God. He didn’t design me to erect some monument to my own genious and ingenuity, but rather to show his glory in business and ideas through me. I am learning very hard lessons about what it means to walk this out with God.

And right now the lesson is being back at work, the 9-5 or in this case 7-5:30 grind. I really enjoy my work, always have and feel really blessed to make the income that I do. The problem is that I seem to be really dreading going to work and really only look forward to the weekend….. only! I don’t really think that is what God had in mind about the abundant life and all. If the abundant life is Fri-Sun, as I work four/ten hour days, then I feel ripped off. I’m pretty sure that is not what God intended.

So God help me to cherish and revel in each and every day as your gift to me.

But wait (as the cheesy ad guys say) there is more. I don’t really enjoy most weekends either and that really stinks. I may be in serious trouble here. And I even spend most Fridays working on building my own business, which (read above) is supposed to be my dream. Ok, so I have been depressed for the better part of a year, but this is downright ridiculous. the abundant life is right in front of me and I can’t even get excited about it.

This must change, Lord. God give me passion for you

I have been impatient, I have been discouraged and I have despaired. Of these things I repent and vow to move forward. I want the path that leads to your heart, Lord. That leads to the abundant life that is only found in you.

The Shack

I am reading a fantastic book called The Shack. My wife had been saying I should read it for a while now and boy was she right, as usual.

I won’t spoil it for you should you decide to read it, but if you like Pilgrims Progress and a Christmas Carol, you should like this. It is a fictional story that really drills home God’s nature and innate goodness and how we so often in our personal journeys either lose track or were never taught these important qualities of God.

It is crucial that we see God as a loving God, not just in a general sense, but as a personal intimate lover of our souls….. that is Truth and reality.

What is the First Connection?

The Joseph Company has been a big influence on the start of Whirlwindz and personally in my life. I have attended three conferences and have been totally blown away each time, in completely different ways.

When I was there in Feb 2007 for a week long Leadership Training conference, Bob Hartley spoke prophetically over me the words First Connection. He said that I was the First Connection and I have kept that in my heart and have looked for its realization in my life.

It occurred to me a couple of weeks ago that Abundantly Available was the first connection that I made with the Joseph Company and that is how I came up with the name for this web site. The Abundantly Available God is the First Connection that I want my business to have. Connection with The Abundantly Available God will bring the Kingdom of God into my life and out of this abundance, my business can pour out to others.

The Abundantly Available God

The Abundantly Available God. These word rang in my ears. This was my first visit to the Joseph Company, which was supposed to be a meeting on Marketplace Christianity. What it really is, is a training site for business people to come, be refreshed and learn a new definition of what it means to adore God and worship Him in your business.

The Abundantly Available God totally broke me up and I could barely contain the tears. Within minutes of attending the meeting that Satan had really convinced me was going to be a waste of time, God now had my full attention. What occurred over the next 3 days was nothing short of life changing. I came home to my family committed to love them better.

I won’t say that it has been fully lived out in the years since, but the commitment is there and I keep being drawn back to it. To fully love, worship and adore my God. To have that love relationship played out in my life. That is my one true desire.
